What else is new?
Introducing, availability
We wanted to make it even easier for team members to communicate when they can and can’t work, and ensure that managers are able to easily spot the best person to fill the spot on a schedule. Enter: Availability! Instead of only being able to add when they are unavailable, team members can now also add when they are available to work, so you’ll always know who will be the best fit for a shift.
Use regular working hours to automatically set overtime payments
In many businesses, it’s common for overtime rates to kick in when employees work outside of their regular working hours — whether that be spread across a week, a fortnight or a month. Using our new Pay Rate Builder together with regular hours, you can now set overtime to automatically calculate when an employee works above the threshold set.
Include employee leave when exporting or printing your schedule!
This small but mighty update does exactly what it says on the tin, in that you can now select whether you want to include leave when printing your schedule in the excel format. If you’re looking for the print option to test this out, you will notice that it has been added to the options menu, for a sleeker menu look.
An easier way to audit the history of every shift
When creating schedules for hourly work, it’s common for changes to happen after you first publish your schedule. To make it easier to keep track of any changes and easily audit the lifecycle of a shift, you can now click the three dots on any shift, and select ‘Shift History’ to view an easy to understand breakdown of every change, swap and update that happened since you published that shift.
Making importing schedules, a piece of cake
We’ve made it even easier to create or update your Deputy schedules in bulk from an external file, with improved error handling and a new optional field, ‘Group Reference’, that allows you to bring sub shifts under a single shift.

If juggling multiple whatsapp threads, messenger chats and text messages across your workplace sounds familiar, this is going to be an update worth sitting down for — Deputy Messaging will be your new, integrated instant messaging tool that sits right alongside your rostering and timesheets! Send DMs to individual team members, automatically create group chats by location, or create your own groups for a fast and seamless way to keep everyone in the loop. A seamless way to schedule mini-shifts within a single shift, with micro-scheduling
In shiftwork, we know that team members are often versatile and might rotate between many different roles within a single shift. Today, you might be manually letting that team member know where they need to be at what time OR going through the process of scheduling multiple shifts across the day for a team member, requiring them to clock in and out multiple times for you to get the right level of detail. This is where micro-scheduling comes in! This feature allows you to nest multiple areas of work for an employee, within a single shift — giving both the employee, and managers a better view of what is happening that day. If you’re interested in trying microscheduling today, you can learn more here.
Create shifts that repeat by patterns
When it comes to scheduling, we know that no two businesses are the same — and not every business runs their shift on weekly or monthly patterns. To save you from the mundane of manually creating repeating shifts across your business, we’ve introduced a small but mighty feature that allows you to create shifts according to a custom pattern, for example 3 days on, then three days off and so forth. Look out for this update coming very soon to your shift options!
Simplify your pay rates with new level management
Staying on top of multiple pay levels within the same award? This is the update for you! Using Pay Rate Builder, you will soon be able to add additional pay levels and base rates to the primary award making it easier to maintain, and removing the need to endlessly scroll in search of the right award. With the base rate built into your pay policy, you will no longer need to add and update the base rate for every employee on that rate - updating it in the pay policy will update it for all team members on that award, reducing manual admin.
